Application of Static VAR Generator

All places where low-voltage transformers are installed and beside large electrical equipment should be equipped with reactive power compensation devices (this is the regulation of the state power department), especially those industrial and mining enterprises and residential areas with low power factor must be installed. Large asynchronous motor, transformer, electric welding machine, punch, lathe group, air compressor, press, crane, smelting, steel rolling, aluminum rolling, large exchange, electric irrigation equipment, electric locomotive, etc. In addition to incandescent lighting in residential areas, air conditioners and chillers are also the consumption objects of reactive power that can not be ignored. The rural power consumption is relatively poor. In most areas, the power supply is insufficient, the voltage fluctuates greatly, and the power factor is especially low. The installation of compensation equipment is an effective measure to improve the power supply and improve the utilization rate of electric energy.

Advantages of Static VAR Generator

1. Compensation mode: domestic reactive power compensation devices basically use capacitors for reactive power compensation, and the power factor after compensation is generally about 0.8-0.9. SVG adopts the power module for reactive power compensation, and the power factor after compensation is generally above 0.98, which is the most advanced power technology in the world.

2. Compensation time: the fastest time for domestic reactive power compensation devices to complete a compensation is 200 milliseconds. SVG can complete a compensation in 5-20 milliseconds. Reactive power compensation needs to be completed instantaneously. If the compensation time is too long, it will lead to the bad situation that there is no reactive power when it should be and there is no reactive power when it should not be;

3. Step by step and stepless: domestic reactive power compensation devices basically adopt step-by-step compensation of 3-10 levels. Each level of increase or decrease is tens of thousands of VaR, which can not realize accurate compensation. SVG can carry out stepless compensation from 0.1 kvar, which fully realizes accurate compensation;

4. Harmonic filtering: because the domestic reactive power compensation device adopts capacitor type, the capacitor itself will amplify the harmonic, so it can not filter the harmonic at all. SVG does not generate harmonic, let alone amplify harmonic, and can filter more than 50% of the harmonic;

5. Service life: domestic reactive power compensation devices are generally controlled by contactors or thyristors, resulting in short service life, generally about three years, large loss and frequent maintenance. The service life of SVG is more than ten years, with minimal loss and basically no maintenance.

Why use Static VAR Generator

Reactive power compensation technology is a very traditional power technology, which represents the power level of a country. Generally speaking, reactive power compensation is to convert the useless work transmitted by low-voltage transformer into active work. The following are the reasons for using SVG:

(1) Reduce line loss by more than 50%. In terms of the whole country, the line loss accounts for about 12%, which is mainly caused by the reactive power component. If the reactive line loss is reduced by 50% ~ 60%, about 50 billion kwh of electricity can be saved in a year, which is equivalent to the power generation of half of the Three Gorges Project. This kind of project that can increase power generation without consuming primary energy is an excellent green project. And the investment is very small and the effect is fast.

(2) Avoid fines. According to the "notice on Issuing the measures for power factor adjustment of electricity charges" issued by the Ministry of electric power and the price bureau of China, when the power factor is 0.94, the electricity charge will be reduced by 1.1%, and when the power factor is 0.6, the electricity charge will be increased by 15%. For example, for a 315KVA transformer, the power factor is increased from 0.6 to more than 0.94, and the annual reward and penalty difference is 30000 ~ 40000 yuan.

(3) Capacity expansion can be realized without additional investment. After reactive power compensation, the power carrying rate can be improved, and the transformer can operate at full load. For example, a 315KVA transformer has a power factor of COS ф= The transformer with 0.6 load can only provide high-quality service, 189kw active power, and can not bear the capacity of about 300kW. It is necessary to purchase a 500KVA transformer for replacement. The power factor is increased from 0.6 to 0.98, which is equivalent to an expansion of 63%. The existing active power is increased from 189kw to 309kw, which can basically meet the required capacity and save a 500KVA transformer, with a cost of about 300000 or 400000 yuan.
